Puppy Kisses Are Coming to Lincoln: Adoption Event Set for October 10

Lincoln residents looking for a little extra cuteness in their weekend — or perhaps a new four-legged member of the family — will want to mark their calendars.

The Junebug Foundation is bringing adoptable puppies and dogs to Ben's Barketplace in Lincoln on Saturday, October 10, for a special pet adoption event.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will give visitors a chance to meet some of the rescue organization's dogs currently searching for permanent homes.

And yes, puppy kisses are apparently part of the deal.

Looking for a New Best Friend?

Representatives from the Junebug Foundation will be on hand with adoptable puppies and dogs, giving prospective adopters an opportunity to meet the animals and learn more about their personalities.

The organization will also provide information about the adoption process and answer questions from people considering bringing a rescue animal into their home.

Adopting isn't the only way to help.

Visitors can also learn about becoming a foster family.

Foster homes play an important role in animal rescue by providing pets with a safe temporary home while they receive care and wait for permanent families.

The Junebug Foundation covers medical and food expenses for its foster animals, while foster families provide the home, care and — most importantly — plenty of love.

Helping Animals Get a Second Chance

The Northern California-based Junebug Foundation focuses heavily on surrendered and abandoned animals, including pets requiring medical treatment before they can be placed in permanent homes.

The organization provides veterinary care, diagnostics, surgeries and temporary housing while working to find appropriate adoptive families.

Potential adopters aren't expected to make an immediate decision simply because they attend the event. The foundation uses an application and review process designed to match animals with homes where they'll be a good fit.
